Hello! My name is Lauren Simmons, and I was born and raised in sunny South Florida but took a detour to the northeast to study chemical-biological engineering at MIT. My interest in medicine started when I was a young child when I would spend numerous hours at the eye doctor trying to correct my amblyopia.

But it was the summer I spent volunteering for Unite for Sight in Ghana that convinced me I should become a physician. You can read more about that in my first blog post.

As a recipient of the Cullen W. Banks, M.D., Scholarship, I couldn’t be more grateful for the support, and I am honored to be chosen to uphold the values of dedication to medicine and commitment to patients that Dr. Banks so tirelessly followed throughout his career.
